Terms of Use
Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement governs your use of the app. The terms below cover ALOUD's credit system on top of it.
- Credits are a prepaid usage budget, not money. Credit has no cash value, is non-transferable, and can only be spent on translation usage in ALOUD.
- Free and promotional credit. New accounts receive a one-time $1.00 starter credit. Any free or promotional credit we grant is discretionary, has no cash value, and may be changed or withdrawn for new grants at any time.
- Metering. Your balance is shown in dollars in the app and is deducted in real time as each session is metered. Typical usage is roughly $0.20 per minute of translation; actual cost varies with how much is spoken. Sessions end automatically when your balance reaches $0.
- Purchases and refunds. Credit top-ups are consumable in-app purchases processed by Apple. Purchases are non-refundable except as required by law; refund requests go to Apple, not to us. If Apple refunds a purchase, we deduct the corresponding credit from your remaining balance (your balance never goes below zero).
- Fair use. We may suspend accounts that abuse the service — for example fraud, automated bulk use, or attempts to extract raw model access.
- Availability and accuracy. Translation depends on third-party providers (OpenAI, Apple, Supabase, Cloudflare); we don't guarantee uninterrupted service. Translations are automated and may contain errors — do not rely on them where accuracy is critical, such as medical, legal, or emergency use.
- Termination. You can delete your account in the app at any time (Settings → Delete Account). Unused credit is forfeited on deletion, except where the law says otherwise.
