Terms of Use
Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement governs your use of the app. The terms below cover ALOUD's credit system on top of it.
- Credits are a prepaid usage budget, not money. Credit has no cash value, is non-transferable, and can only be spent on translation and assistant features in ALOUD.
- Free and promotional credit. New accounts receive a one-time $1.00 starter credit with an expiry date 90 days after sign-up. Free, promotional and bonus grants are discretionary and have no cash value. We may change the terms of future grants.
- Credit expiry. Credit you buy never expires. Free, promotional and bonus credit may expire on the date shown in the app. Promo credit normally expires 90 days after redemption unless its grant specifies a different period or no expiry; bonus credit normally expires after 365 days unless its grant specifies otherwise. Add Credit → Your credit lists each type and its expiry date, where applicable. Credit with the earliest expiry is spent first, before non-expiring credit. An active session can finish using credit that expires while that session is running; expired complimentary credit is removed through periodic processing when no session is active and is not refundable. Balances held at the October 6, 2026 credit-system migration were preserved as non-expiring credit.
- Metering. Your balance is shown in dollars and deducted as each session is metered. Cost depends on the voice quality setting and the audio, text, image and live-captioning features you use. Premium generally uses credit faster than Economy. There is no fixed number of minutes per dollar. Live captioning can incur usage while enabled; the balance also covers text checks and assistant responses. Sessions end automatically when your balance reaches $0.
- Purchases and refunds. Credit top-ups are consumable in-app purchases processed by Apple. Purchases are non-refundable except as required by law; refund requests go to Apple, not to us. If Apple refunds a purchase, we deduct the corresponding credit from your remaining balance (your balance never goes below zero).
- Fair use. We may suspend accounts that abuse the service — for example fraud, automated bulk use, or attempts to extract raw model access.
- Availability and accuracy. Translation depends on third-party providers (OpenAI, Apple, Supabase, Cloudflare); we don't guarantee uninterrupted service. Translations are automated and may contain errors — do not rely on them where accuracy is critical, such as medical, legal, or emergency use.
- Termination. You can delete your account in the app at any time (Settings → Delete Account). Unused credit is forfeited on deletion, except where the law says otherwise.
